When the World Was Not Watching
For over thirty years, John Bell and Graham Maule sent Christmas cards that featured original texts and designs. Among the texts were prayers, reflections and many carols, but not of the conventional sort. Rather, they took on themes usually avoided: the anonymity of the birth of Jesus, the awkwardness for Joseph of being a surrogate father, the savagery of the slaughter of the innocents.
With this collection, John Bell assembles these works in one volume, guiding us through the full length of the season from the first Sunday in Advent through Epiphany with a truly unique and inspired point of view.
First, thanks for posting the Unbound music from the NPM Convention. I mislaid my booklet!! It was an excellent session!
But secondly… c’mon… Emmanuel by Kate was a hit! People were walking out in tears and telling me that it was so meaningful! I know it wasn’t a part of the packet… but it should have been and the response from everyone present shows that it resonates deeply! I know some who purchased and/or are planning to purchase! ;-)
